AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE TEACHER PREPARATION PROGRAM AT NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 to hire eight teachers from local school districts to work in the teacher preparation program by teaching instructional methods, supervising field experiences and student teachers, providing induction support for new teachers, conducting on-site teacher preparation programs in public schools and working with education faculty on program reform. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
