AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A STUDY OF PROPOSED AMTRAK SERVICE BETWEEN ALBUQUERQUE AND EL PASO.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state highway and transportation department for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 to conduct a three-day demonstration of proposed Amtrak service between Albuquerque and El Paso, Texas, and analysis of proposed permanent service. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
