AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO DRILL WATER WELLS ON THE TEXAS BORDER TO PUMP WATER INTO THE PECOS RIVER IN THE EVENT OF A PRIORITY CALL.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million dollars ($1,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the interstate stream commission for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 to drill water wells on the Texas border in southeast New Mexico to pump water into the Pecos river in the event of a priority call. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
