AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE CULTURALLY COMPETENT SPIRITUAL COUNSELORS FOR NATIVE AMERICAN ADULTS INCARCERATED IN STATE CORRECTIONS FACILITIES.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Eighty-five thousand dollars ($85,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the corrections department for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 to contract to provide culturally competent counselors and advisors to provide spiritual counseling pursuant to the Native American Counseling Act to adults incarcerated in state corrections facilities. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
