AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A SCIENCE-BASED ONE-ON-ONE PREVENTION PROGRAM FOR HIGH-RISK YOUTHS IN ALBUQUERQUE.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 to contract for a science-based one-on-one prevention program for high-risk minority youths in Albuquerque in Bernalillo county. The program shall be designed to reduce risk factors that lead to behavior problems and to enhance development of social skills and encourage personal achievement. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
