AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE OF THE COURTS TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL CLERKS FOR MAGISTRATE COURTS THROUGHOUT THE STATE.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. One million four hundred forty-six thousand seven hundred dollars ($1,446,700) is appropriated from the general fund to the administrative office of the courts for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 to pay for salaries and benefits, supplies, furniture and office equipment for:

(1) three additional clerks in the San Miguel magistrate district;

(2) three additional clerks in the Quay magistrate district;

(3) seven additional clerks in the Dona Ana magistrate district, for divisions one, two and three;

(4) one and one-half additional clerks in the Luna magistrate district;

(5) three and one-half additional clerks in the Chaves magistrate district;

(6) one additional clerk in the Hidalgo magistrate district;

(7) two and one-half additional clerks in the San Juan magistrate district, for division one;

(8) one additional clerk in the Grant magistrate district, for division one;

(9) one additional clerk in the Lincoln magistrate district, for division one;

(10) one additional clerk in the Lincoln magistrate district, for division two;

(11) four additional clerks in the Santa Fe magistrate district;

(12) two additional clerks in the Otero magistrate district;

(13) one-half additional clerk in the Sandoval magistrate district, for division one;

(14) one-half additional clerk in the Sandoval magistrate district, for division two;

(15) three additional clerks in the McKinley magistrate district;

(16) one additional clerk in the Cibola magistrate district;

(17) one and one-half additional clerks in the Curry magistrate district;

(18) one-half additional clerk in the Eddy magistrate district, for division three; and

(19) one-half additional clerk in the San Miguel magistrate district.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.

Section 2. EFFECTIVE DATE.--The effective date of the provisions of this act is July 1, 2001.
