AN ACT

RELATING TO BICYCLING; MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROMOTE BICYCLING IN NEW MEXICO.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION--BICYCLING PROMOTION.--Eighty thousand dollars ($80,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the tourism department for expenditure in fiscal years 2001 and 2002 for the purpose of promoting bicycling in New Mexico. The promotion shall include printing brochures and producing a video that promotes bicycling as a safe, healthy and fuel efficient alternative to driving, that provides bicycling information for driver education and that educates bicyclists and the general public on how to share the road. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
