AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR WATER CONSERVATION AND WATER USE EFFICIENCY STRATEGIES.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the local government division of the department of finance and administration for expenditure in fiscal years 2001 and 2002 to implement water conservation and water use efficiency strategies, including ultra-low-flow toilet installations, rain water harvesting incentive programs, hands-on irrigation efficiency and low-water use landscaping efforts and extensive public outreach and education campaigns. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
