AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A NEW MEXICO MENTAL HEALTH SYSTEM INITIATIVE.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. Nine million ninety-eight thousand five hundred dollars ($9,098,500) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 to develop and implement a statewide mental health system for the following purposes in the following amounts:

(1) two million fifty-one thousand five hundred dollars ($2,051,500) for twenty-two new intensive and intermediate care inpatient beds at the Las Vegas medical center;

(2) two million twenty-two thousand dollars ($2,022,000) for a pharmacotherapy program;

(3) two million dollars ($2,000,000) for a psychiatric crisis response program;

(4) one million five hundred thousand dollars ($1,500,000) for intensive mental health services;

(5) one million dollars ($1,000,000) for dual diagnosis services; and

(6) five hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($525,000) for jail diversion programs.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
