AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC EDUCATION TO FUND A PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY TO PROVIDE TEACHER PARTICIPANTS WITH WORK-RELATED EXPERIENCES FOR USE IN THEIR CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 to fund a professional development academy to provide teacher participants with work-related experiences for use in their classroom instruction in the subject areas of reading, mathematics and science. Expenditure of this appropriation is contingent upon obtaining an equal or greater amount of matching funds from sources other than state funds. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
