AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO TO CREATE A TRANSPORTATION TECHNOLOGY CENTER; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in fiscal years 2001 and 2002 to provide the alliance for transportation research institute with funds to create a transportation technology center for programs in the areas of intelligent transportation systems, information management systems in transportation for urban and rural areas, multi-modal and community development, border-area trade and transportation and other technologies to enhance transportation delivery in the state. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.

Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
