AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A SURVEY OF CERTAIN HAZARDOUS MATERIALS SITES IN THE STATE.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Seven hundred thousand dollars ($700,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of environment for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 to fund a survey in conjunction with the state highway and transportation department and the department of public safety to evaluate certain hazardous materials sites using multi-spectral pulsed differential absorption mid-infrared laser mapping technology to detect hazardous materials, map and integrate data and provide information necessary to protect the public safety. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
