AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO ACQUIRE GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS FOR RURAL COUNTIES.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Four hundred ninety-six thousand dollars ($496,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the local government division of the department of finance and administration for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 to acquire geographic information systems for counties with populations less than two hundred fifty thousand people for property tax assessment, land use planning, building permitting and infrastructure software in non-major metropolitan counties and incorporated rural communities with populations less than ten thousand. The software shall be both windows and network compliant and have an open relational database for seamless integration with existing small government computer and network systems. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
