AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR WILD HORSE RESEARCH.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred ninety-eight thousand dollars ($198,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 for the New Mexico department of agriculture to contract for preservation measures, including round-ups and DNA testing, of the wild horses in the vicinity of Valencia and Torrance counties. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
