AN ACT

RELATING TO CRIMINAL LAW; REQUIRING CONFIDENTIALITY IN CASES RELATING TO CRIMINAL PROSECUTION; ENACTING A NEW SECTION OF THE CRIMINAL CODE; PROVIDING PENALTIES.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. A new section of the Criminal Code is enacted to read:

"[NEW MATERIAL] DISTRICT ATTORNEYS--PERSONNEL--CONFIDENTIALITY.--

A. It is unlawful for a district attorney or the personnel appointed by a district attorney to intentionally discuss pending criminal cases with any person outside of the district attorney's office who is unconnected to the criminal proceedings.

B. Whoever violates the provisions of this section is guilty of a petty misdemeanor."
