SUMMARY



Synopsis of Bill



The bill makes an appropriation to contribute state funds to the National World War II Memorial in Washington D.C. The bill appropriates $69.0 from the general fund to the New Mexico Veterans' Service Commission.



Significant Issues



According to the VSC, New Mexico is one of only three states who have not made a contribution to the National World War II Memorial. Contributions to the Memorial come from federal, state, private individuals, charitable foundations, etc. The goal is to have a contribution from each state.











FISCAL IMPLICATIONS



The appropriation of $69.0 contained in this bill is a non-recurring expense to the general fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
