SUMMARY



Synopsis of Bill



HB 98 appropriates $336,000 to the Health Department to provide matching funds pursuant to the federal Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention and Treatment Act of 2000 to provide medicaid eligibility to uninsured women who are 65. These women must be identified through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's national breast and cervical cancer early detection program,

and need treatment for breast or cervical cancer including precancerous conditions and early state cancer.



FISCAL IMPLICATIONS



HB 98 appropriates $336.0 from the general fund. These funds will match $1,432.0 in federal funds. Any unexpended or unencumbered balances remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 should revert to the general fund.



RELATIONSHIP



HB 98 relates to SB 33 which appropriates $300,000 to the Health Department to fund breast cancer and cervical cancer treatment for low-income women.
