SUMMARY

Synopsis of Bill

House Bill 327 provides that for an elected office that is certified by the state canvassing board, any recount or recheck fees collected will be deposited with the Secretary of State, instead of the local canvassing board. This would cover all statewide and multi-county elections.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

Additional revenue may be deposited with the Secretary of State, which is then deposited into the general fund. The total amount collected depends on the amount of recounts or rechecks requested, with a cost of $50.00 for each precinct for which a recount is demanded and $10.00 for each voting machine for which a recheck is demanded.
