SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Joint Memorial 67 resolves the Children, Youth and Families Department, Human Services Department and Department of Health work to ensure that a child receiving specialized foster care services is provided an uninterrupted transition from that program to the developmentally disabled Medicaid waiver program when they reach 18 years of age.
Significant Issues
HSD indicates DOH already has implemented a process to add persons who have reached age 18 to the DD waiver, including an emergency placement option.
DDPC indicates the provisions in the bill could be addressed by the Statewide Transition Coordinating Council.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
Not all children under the foster care program are eligible for services under the DD Medicaid waiver program.
