Synopsis of Bill

House Joint Memorial recognizes the distinguished public awards program for its own contributions to public service through its recognition of others. The legislature encourages all federal, state, local and Native American governmental entities in New Mexico and business and civic organizations to support the New Mexico distinguished public services awards program.

Significant Issues

•The New Mexico distinguished public service awards program has honored more than 300 New Mexicans for their contributions to public service in New Mexico during the past 31 years
•The distinguished public awards program has begun granting scholarships for graduate education in public service.
•Another group of distinguished New Mexicans will be recognized for their contributions to public service on May 18, 2001 in Albuquerque.
