SUMMARY

Synopsis of Bill

House Memorial requests the State Highway and Transportation Department provide funding to line the Arroyo de la Manteca in Las Vegas.

Significant Issues

The State Highway and Transportation Department has planned to expend $250.0 for improvements to the Arroyo de la Manteca in the current fiscal year. This project is bridge rehabilitation with the City of Las Vegas as lead agency, providing a 20 percent funding match.

A professional engineer's estimate for concrete lining is $1.6 million. Lining the channel with rip rap would cost $1.5 million. These estimates are based on approximately one mile of improvements extending from the Gallinas River upstream to the "Manteca Confluence."

While the department can fund road and bridge improvements, funding is not available for water drainage improvements.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

The department has budgeted $250.0 for bridge rehabilitation over this arroyo.

ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS

No impact.
