Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 134 appropriates $54.0 from the general fund to the Twelfth Judicial District Attorney for the purpose of funding a criminal investigator position.
Significant Issues
The Administrative Office of the District Attorneys has indicated the Twelfth Judicial District Attorney has unsuccessfully requested a criminal investigator position for the last four budget cycles. The requested position was the first priority in the Twelfth Judicial District Attorney's FY02 budget request. The position would be used by the Twelfth Judicial District Attorney to address the increase in caseload associated with white collar crime.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $54.0 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
TECHNICAL ISSUES
Senate Bill 134 does not specify the personnel classification level of criminal investigator.
