SUMMARY

Synopsis of Bill

Senate Bill 224 appropriates $100.0 from the general fund to the New Mexico Film Division of the Economic Development Department for the purpose of helping establish and assist local film and multi-media production companies in New Mexico.

Significant Issues

The bill would add resources to the ongoing efforts of assisting production companies and communities in New Mexico. According to the agency, the bill would provide resources to research all potential film, video or other media-related programs and potential projects throughout New Mexico's major institutions and businesses. In addition, in-state training workshops could be held for New Mexico's production companies, communities and tribes.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

The appropriation of $100.0 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
