Synopsis of Bill



SB 495 appropriates $ 500.0 from the general fund to the Office of Indian Affairs to create an Indian art history outreach program that will service elementary and secondary public schools, as well as Bureau of Indian Affairs contract schools. The Office of Indian Affairs will create and administer this program through a contract. The curricula for this program will be determined by the contractor, the State Department of Education and the Institute for American Indian Arts, and will be integrated based on local district requirements.



FISCAL IMPLICATIONS



The appropriation of $ 500.0 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY 02 shall revert to the general fund.
