SB 555 exempts New Mexico from daylight savings time.
Significant Issues
The State of New Mexico currently goes on daylight savings time in April and returns to mountain standard time in October. With the exception of Arizona, the rest of the nation follows this changing of the clock. Every April New Mexico moves the clock forward one hour and therefore makes it lighter at the end of the day and darker in the early morning. Several groups, especially those in the agriculture industry, find it difficult to change and live under daylight savings time. There is also the burden of changing all the clocks twice a year. Other people prefer to have the light later in the evening and to be in sync with 48 other states.
