Synopsis of Bill



Senate Joint Resolution 3 proposes a constitutional amendment to allow municipalities to conduct runoff elections.



Significant Issues



The joint resolution provides that a municipality, by ordinance, may have run off elections. This would amend Article 7, Section 5 of the Constitution of New Mexico.



FISCAL IMPLICATIONS



There is no appropriation contained in this joint resolution. There is a cost of $30.0 associated with the printing, publishing, advertising and translation of proposed constitutional amendments. This cost is absorbed in the Secretary of State's operating budget.
