A JOINT MEMORIAL

REQUESTING MUNICIPALITIES AND COUNTIES TO COMPLY WITH THE RIGHT TO FARM ACT.



WHEREAS, the legislature enacted the Right to Farm Act in 1981; and

WHEREAS, the purpose of the act was to conserve and protect agricultural land and farming as a way of life and to reduce the loss of farmland and agricultural economies by limiting the treatment of farms as nuisances;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that municipalities and counties be requested to comply with the Right to Farm Act; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the New Mexico municipal league and the New Mexico association of counties for further distribution.
