Synopsis of Bill

Senate Bill 5 provides for an exemption of National Guard members on state-ordered duty from limitations on time for filing a worker’s compensation claim.

Significant Issues

The bill provides that members of the National Guard whose injury occurred on state-ordered duty and who has received federal veterans’ disability benefits as a result of his or her injury are not required to give notice to their employer and are not subject to the one-year limitation period on filing a claim.
