AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR FORENSIC INVESTIGATIONS OF INDIAN PEOPLE ON INDIAN LANDS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($225,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in fiscal year 2003 for the office of medical investigator to conduct forensic investigations of Indian people on Indian lands at the invitation of the Indian nation, tribe or pueblo in control of the land. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.
