AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A STUDY BY THE LEA AND CARLSBAD SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICTS OF ISSUES RELATED TO THE USE OF WATER PRODUCED BY OIL AND GAS EXPLORATION FROM DEEP UNDERGROUND.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure in fiscal year 2003 to finance a study by the Lea and Carlsbad soil and water conservation districts of issues related to the use of water produced by oil and gas exploration from deep underground. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.
