AN ACT

MAKING APPROPRIATIONS TO PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR NURSING EDUCATION PROGRAMS AND OTHER COSTS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO HEALTH SCIENCES CENTER.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. Four million two hundred fifty-two thousand three hundred dollars ($4,252,300) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in fiscal years 2003 through 2006 in the following amounts for the following purposes:

(1) one million nine hundred thousand dollars ($1,900,000) to expand enrollment in the college of nursing; and

(2) two million three hundred fifty-two thousand three hundred dollars ($2,352,300) to expand bachelor of science in nursing and master of science in nursing education in New Mexico by partnering with other post-secondary educational institutions offering associate degrees in nursing.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.

Section 2. APPROPRIATION.--

A. Two million five hundred forty-three thousand one hundred dollars ($2,543,100) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in fiscal year 2003 for the following purposes in the following amounts:

(1) two million forty-three thousand one hundred dollars ($2,043,100) to provide for increased operational costs; and

(2) five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) as a base adjustment to provide for operational costs at Carrie Tingley crippled children's hospital.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.
