AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH SERVICES STATEWIDE; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal years 2002 and 2003 to support existing maternal and child health services statewide, develop a comprehensive statewide service delivery plan and expand the services to three counties currently not being served. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.

Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
