AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE FOR LEADERSHIP AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING TO IMPROVE STUDENT PERFORMANCE THROUGH STRENGTHENING QUALITY IN SCHOOLS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million three hundred thousand dollars ($1,300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 2003 to contract with a community-based organization to work for continuous improvement in the quality of New Mexico's education system by providing professional development training and consulting to administrators, teachers, staff, students, parents, school board members, state department of public education personnel, community college partners, college of education partners and members of the community. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.
