AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO CONDUCT DNA TESTS ON FREE-ROAMING HORSES TO DETERMINE THE LINEAGE OF THE ORIGINAL SPANISH HORSES.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure in fiscal year 2003 for the New Mexico department of agriculture to conduct DNA tests on free-roaming horses to determine the lineage of the original Spanish horses. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.
