AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FOR LOW-INCOME AND UNDEREMPLOYED RESIDENTS IN RURAL AND SEMIRURAL AREAS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure in fiscal year 2003 to provide economic development initiatives involving low-income and underemployed residents in those rural and semirural areas throughout the state with the highest unemployment rates and the lowest per capita income levels. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.
