SUMMARY

     Synopsis of Bill

Senate Joint Memorial directs the SDE to study the feasibility of establishing a licensure structure for school administrators that provides for distinctions between licensing of superintendents and other administrators, including principals.

     Significant Issues

The department is directed to report findings to the Legislature by November 2002.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

No fiscal impact.

ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS

According to SDE, administrative impact to the department would be minimal, since the Professional Licensure Unit has already organized a task force to study this issue.
