A JOINT MEMORIAL

RECOGNIZING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF CAREER AND TECHNICAL STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS.

WHEREAS, career and technical student organizations are an integral and vital part of career and technical education; and

WHEREAS, career and technical student organizations involve close to ninety thousand students statewide in skill-based education programs, including classroom instruction, work-based learning and community service; and

WHEREAS, these student organizations have developed partnerships with businesses, trade associations and professional organizations that provide excellent mentoring programs; and

WHEREAS, through these programs, students are prepared for the workplace, their employment opportunities are improved and their self-esteem and confidence are enhanced; and

WHEREAS, student organizations, including the business professionals of America, distributive education clubs of America, the family, career and community leaders of America, the future farmers of America, the technology student association and SkillsUSA, support healthy core values, good work ethics and good business practices;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that recognition be extended to career and technical student organizations for their support and contributions in helping students develop into productive and fully participating citizens of New Mexico; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the career and technical student organizations honored.
