AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES DEPARTMENT FOR A PILOT PROJECT THAT PROVIDES PROGRAMS AND SERVICES TO CHILDREN OF INCARCERATED PARENTS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($125,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2004 to hire two master's level social workers to operate a pilot project, in a county designated by the department, that provides counseling programs, education programs and transportation services to children of incarcerated parents. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2004 shall revert to the general fund.
