AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO MATCH FEDERAL FUNDS FOR A STUDY OF OZONE POLLUTION IN NORTHWESTERN NEW MEXICO.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of environment for expenditure in fiscal years 2004 and 2005 to match federal funds for a study of ozone pollution in northwestern New Mexico pursuant to obligations of the early action compact entered into by San Juan county, Aztec, Bloomfield, Farmington, the department of environment and the United States environmental protection agency. No more than one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) of this appropriation shall be spent in each fiscal year. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2005 shall revert to the general fund.
