AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE TOURISM DEPARTMENT FOR A STUDY TO DETERMINE THE VALUE TO TOURISM OF A CROSS-CULTURAL EDUCATIONAL PROJECT AND TO PROVIDE A MARKETING PLAN FOR THE PROJECT; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. One hundred seventy-five thousand dollars ($175,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the tourism department to be expended in fiscal years 2003 and 2004 for a study to:

(1) determine the value to the state tourism program of a cross-cultural educational project depicting Moroccan and northern New Mexico cultures; and

(2) produce a marketing plan for the project.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2004 shall revert to the general fund.

Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
