AN ACT

RELATING TO HORSE RACING; REQUIRING LICENSED HORSE RACING TRACKS TO PROVIDE HOLDING BARNS FOR NEW MEXICO HORSEMEN; ENACTING A NEW SECTION OF THE HORSE RACING ACT.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. A new section of the Horse Racing Act is enacted to read:

"[NEW MATERIAL] HOLDING BARNS.--Licensed horse racing tracks shall provide holding barns for the temporary boarding of New Mexico-bred horses in order to ensure that horsemen who reside and train in New Mexico have adequate facilities to board their horses."

Section 2. EFFECTIVE DATE.--The effective date of the provisions of this act is July 1, 2003.
