AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR OUTREACH FOR SERVICES FOR DEAF PERSONS; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the commission for deaf and hard-of-hearing persons for expenditure in fiscal years 2003 and 2004 to contract for expanded statewide outreach efforts, including case management and sign language interpretation for deaf and hard-of-hearing persons. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2004 shall revert to the general fund.

Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
