AN ACT

RELATING TO INSURANCE; AMENDING THE HEALTH MAINTENANCE ORGANIZATION LAW TO PROHIBIT CERTAIN TYPES OF DISCRIMINATION AGAINST DOCTORS OF ORIENTAL MEDICINE.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. Section 59A-46-36 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1989, Chapter 96, Section 2, as amended) is amended to read:

"59A-46-36. DOCTOR OF ORIENTAL MEDICINE--DISCRIMINATION PROHIBITED.--Doctors of oriental medicine as a class of licensed providers willing to meet the terms and conditions offered by a health maintenance organization shall not be excluded from a health maintenance organization and shall not be discriminated against relative to other providers regarding reimbursement levels and services provided within their scope of practice."
