AN ACT

RELATING TO PUBLIC SCHOOLS; REQUIRING SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO TRACK GRADUATION RATES.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. A new section of the Public School Code is enacted to read:

"[NEW MATERIAL] HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION RATES--REPORTING IN ACCOUNTABILITY REPORT.--In addition to other requirements for the annual accountability report, every school district shall collect and report graduation rates for each high school in the school district. As part of the graduation rate data, the school district shall indicate contributing factors to nongraduation such as transfer out of the school district, pregnancy, dropout and other factors as known."
