AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR RESPITE CARE SERVICES FOR FAMILIES OF PERSONS WITH ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. One hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state agency on aging for expenditure in fiscal year 2004 for the following purposes:

(1) seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000) to fund respite care services for families of persons with Alzheimer's disease, with emphasis on services in rural areas; and

(2) twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) for staff development for administrative and direct care staff in nursing homes, assisted living facilities and community-based facilities, including adult daycare.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2004 shall revert to the general fund.
