SENATE FLOOR AMENDMENT number ___1___ to SENATE BILL 547, as amended

1. On page 1, line 12, after the semicolon insert "REQUIRING THAT CATASTROPHIC COVERAGE BE OFFERED;".

2. On page 8, line 18, strike the quotation mark.

3. On page 8, between lines 18 and 19, insert the following new subsection to read:

"G. An insurer, fraternal benefit society, health maintenance organization or nonprofit healthcare plan that chooses to offer a policy or plan pursuant to the Minimum Healthcare Protection Act shall also offer a catastrophic coverage policy. As used in this subsection, "catastrophic coverage policy" means a policy for health insurance that provides coverage for catastrophic, life-threatening or chronic illnesses or conditions after the sixty thousand dollar ($60,000) calendar year maximum limit has been reached."".
