AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE FOR A DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PILOT PROJECT IN THE BERNALILLO COUNTY METROPOLITAN COURT.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. The following amounts are appropriated from the general fund to the Bernalillo county metropolitan court for expenditure in fiscal year 2004 for the purpose of operating a domestic violence pilot project in the Bernalillo county metropolitan court:

(1) one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) to provide salaries and benefits for two probation officers;

(2) sixty-five thousand dollars ($65,000) to provide a salary and benefits for a clinical psychologist;

(3) forty-five thousand dollars ($45,000) to provide a salary and benefits for a victim's advocate;

(4) thirty-six thousand dollars ($36,000) to provide a salary and benefits for a clerk;

(5) sixty thousand dollars ($60,000) for office equipment, including computers, telephones, pagers, desks and chairs;

(6) thirty thousand dollars ($30,000) for supplies, including drug and alcohol test kits, screening tests, questionnaires and office supplies;

(7) three hundred twenty-two thousand dollars ($322,000) to provide substance abuse treatment and counseling for domestic violence offenders, victims of domestic violence and children who witness domestic violence; and

(8) twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) to contract for an independent audit of the domestic violence pilot project.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2004 shall revert to the general fund.
