AN ACT

RELATING TO PUBLIC LAND; AUTHORIZING THE COMMISSIONER OF PUBLIC LANDS TO TAKE CERTAIN LANDS IN TRUST PURCHASED BY THE INTERSTATE STREAM COMMISSION TO ACHIEVE COMPLIANCE WITH THE PECOS RIVER COMPACT.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. A new section of Chapter 19 NMSA 1978 is enacted to read:

"[NEW MATERIAL] LAND COMMISSIONER--ADDITIONAL POWER--PECOS RIVER COMPACT ACQUIRED LAND.--The commissioner of public lands may take into trust certain lands purchased by the interstate stream commission pursuant to Section 72-1-2.4 NMSA 1978. Those lands, not to include appurtenant water rights or rights to the delivery of water, shall be held in trust for the benefit of Carrie Tingley children's hospital."
