AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE MEDICAID SERVICES FOR ELIGIBLE PERSONS THROUGHOUT NEW MEXICO AND TO RAISE REIMBURSEMENT RATES FOR PHYSICIANS PROVIDING SERVICES FOR MEDICAID CLIENTS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. Fifty million dollars ($50,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the human services department for expenditure in fiscal year 2004 to support the state medicaid program in the following amounts for the following purposes:

(1) four million dollars ($4,000,000) to increase medicaid physician payments to one hundred percent of the medicare rate, beginning July 1, 2003; and

(2) forty-six million dollars ($46,000,000) to support increased health services for persons eligible for the state medicaid program.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2004 shall revert to the general fund.
