SUMMARY

     Synopsis of Bill

House Bill 793 amends Section 3-25-3 NMSA 1978 by expanding the boundary within a municipality where a natural gas or geothermal utility may have transportation, pumping, storage, or purification plant from 50 to 100 miles. The bill revises the occurrences of “Public Utility Commission” to the proper name of “Public Regulation Commission.” The provisions of the bill will take effect July 1, 2003 if enacted.

     Significant Issues

The PRC reports that it does not appear that the expansion of the limit considered in this bill would have any substantial effect, since it does not affect distribution facilities.  The Department of Environment reports the bill does not have an impact on them.
